Artist
Capt. Rob Arsenault (14 SES) captures the moment when a Canso from 103
Rescue Unit (RU) locates a missing native hunter on the ice in the Arctic.
A scene reminiscent of a typical search and rescue mission conducted by
Greenwood Canso crews during the 1950s. 103 Search and Rescue Flight was
formed in Dartmouth N.S. on 1 April 1947.The Flight was moved to Greenwood
in October 1947 and became the first operational unit at the re-activated
RCAF Station Greenwood. In 1950 the Flight was renamed 103 Rescue Unit
(RU) and served at Greenwood until 1968.
