History: 405 Bomber Squadron was formed at Driffield, England, on 23 April 1941. During the war, 405 Squadron moved around among several bomber bases before returning to RCAF Station Greenwood in 1945. The squadron was disbanded at Greenwood on 5 September 1945. They were reformed on 1 April 1947 as 405 Bomber Reconnaissance Squadron at Greenwood and have since changed their name to 405 Maritime Reconnaissance Squadron and then 405 Maritime Patrol Squadron. 405 Squadron currently flies the CP-140 Aurora at Greenwood.
